Who are we?

Shawnda Westly is the Executive Director of the California Democratic Party. Robin Swanson is the founder of Swanson Communications, a strategic political communications firm. Together, they make up the “Siren Group,” an entity created to further causes that they care about, and to wreak havoc, only when absolutely necessary.

We decided to launch this web site to help ensure that women get a fair shake when looking to start or further their careers in politics,
in California and beyond.

Though we’ve attempted to use humor to highlight disparities we’ve seen in recent years – we’ve also decided to put our money where our mouth is by launching this web site.

Our goal is simple: to give women working in politics a place to post their resumes so that employers can find high-quality women to work in campaigns, elections and political positions throughout California, and perhaps across the country. We want to make sure that we have a deep bench of women working in this business, so we continue to take leadership positions throughout the state - and take our seat at the table.

This site is only as useful as the content that drives it – so it’s our hope that women will take the plunge and start posting. In fact, we’re going to take the first resume poster to coffee, because we like women who aren’t afraid to step forward.
